2018 TechOhio Startup Culture Awards Are All OIF
OIF Portfolio Companies Take Home Both of TechOhio’s Inaugural Awards
When TechOhio, the voice of the Ohio Third Frontier, announced the winners of its first-ever Startup Culture Awards in late December, the Ohio Innovation Fund’s portfolio companies were front and center. The two OIF portfolio companies to be nominated – Wiretap and Global Cooling – were the two winners. The awards were announced in September, with voting running from late October to mid-November.
TechOhio Honors Wiretap Among State’s Early Stage Startups
Security intelligence platform Wiretap beat out five other companies to win the vote for the early stage category. In announcing Wiretap as one of its winners, TechOhio lauded the company’s innovative platform, commitment to employee recognition and major recent accomplishments, including being named a 2018 Gartner Cool Vendor and working with banner clients such as AstraZeneca and Oxfam International.

Global Cooling’s Stirling Ultracold Takes Home Growth Stage Honors
Global Cooling, maker of the Stirling Ultracold ultra-low temperature freezer, fended off five other finalists to win the award for best late-stage culture. TechOhio’s write-up on the company mentioned its 2017 Equipment, Instruments and Chromatography Supplier of the Year from VWR and its establishing the first-ever Energy Star partnership for its industry, as well as its focus on sustainability.
